Budget-conscious travelers and Salzburg? It's a match. You just have to know where: There are places all over the city where you can enjoy the beauty of the city for free or for a small fee. Here is the Wendl Hotels guide.
Festivals for free
The Salzburg Festival is too elitist or expensive for you, but you would like to hear Anna Netrebko sing? Here we go! At the Siemens Festival Nights on Kapitelplatz, the sponsor of the Salzburg Festival is generous and shows the most important moments of the past years on the big cinema screen. On warm summer nights, a real must-see for all culture lovers. "The atmosphere is great every evening. From real culture connoisseurs to passers-by who happen to stroll by and then take a seat, I like this mix," says Raffaela Wendl.

Climbing on the Mönchsberg
There is a publicly accessible climbing wall on the Mönchsberg in the Mülln district. The tours on the conglomerate rock of the city mountain range from easy to difficult, and the Salzburg Alpine Association keeps them in good condition. In front of the climbing area there is a large playground with a fantastic view of the city, which offers something for children of all ages. A great place to have a picnic with the whole family or to plan a sporty day in Salzburg with friends.

Eating in the Bräustübl Mülln
The Augustinerbräu Mülln is a very unique concept: At 5,000 square meters, it is the largest brewery inn in Austria with large halls and, in summer, a shady chestnut garden. The Augustinian monks have been brewing beer here since 1621. You can drink the tasty pale beer, and you can buy local specialties at various stalls as you walk around the market. Or bring your own! An option that many locals use, especially in summer: With a fully packed picnic basket, you can head to the large beer garden at the foot of the Mönchsberg. And yes, that's allowed!
